The only thing I can think of is that it's a laundry list of potential gifts.

4. I have dim and old recollections of Sound of Music being
released for Christmas during my neolithic childhood. I have harsh memories of a series of nuns forcing my class to learn all the songs from that movie. made me not want to see it.

6. Well
The song does mention silvery winters, snowflakes, and packages tied up with string.

I used to belong to a Christmas chorus--places would hire us to sing holiday songs. We did sing "My favorite Things" one year, but even worse, we sang "Grandma's Feather Bed," which has nothing to do with Christmas, unless you count the references to long ago family gatherings.

7. I've always wondered that, as well
The song has nothing whatsoever to do with Christmas.
