Typos I can't take any more: "a women"
I can't believe how many times I've seen that on DU. :wtf:

Do people really not know how to spell woman? Do they not know that the article "a" goes with a singular noun? Is this a funny freeperism I've just never heard about? Someone please explain before I go stark, raving mad.

1. Sometimes a men's gotta do what a men's gotta do.
:hide:

On a more serious note, I think that there are many here who aren't at their best composing at a keyboard (me, for one)or who aren't good spellers.

6. Oh, those silly mens!
:silly:

You'd think you'd see that, though ("a men"), if it were just about composing on a keyboard, and I haven't seen it; just "a women."

I wonder if it's some strange Freudian thing.

2. I haven't seen that one yet
Maybe I'm just reading too fast to pick up on it. I think that overall we all do pretty good here with our grammar and spelling. I have seen much, much worse on other sites.

4. I see that all over the place
And for the life of me I can't figure out when people lost the knowledge that "man" is singular and so is "wo-man". Drives me batty too. :eyes:

Another awful one I even saw in our local crappy newspaper that masquerades as a prestigious publication: "Pour" over something when they mean "pore". Another :wtf: We ain't talking syrup, here, folks. How hard can it be to get the right homonym?

11. I'm still ignoring you because of Rick Astley, but...
I can't stand when people use quotation marks to signify emphasis:

He said that he "really" had to use the bathroom.

and I also can't stand people who use the abbreviation "ect." WTF does that mean? "Ec tetera?"
