Should I take my 14 yr old daughter to see Sleezy Todd?

1. It's very bloody (worse than the Broadway play) and creepy. Can she handle that?

Music is great. Scenes are very imaginative and you are pore-close to every character for almost the entire production. The voices are decidedly more amateurish and there is NO comic relief in this film -- except for the song "By The Sea".

Tim Burton took the story down a very somber path compared to any of the three Broadway showings we've seen.

I don't know your daughter, but I'd certainly get her take on the story prior to paying for her ticket to the film. There is blood spurting and throat slitting, detached body parts, and other things many youngsters would find upsetting.

Is she hankering to see it? Did she see Tim Burton's previous work "Nightmare Before Christmas" or "Corpse Bride"? Is she familiar with the Sweeney Todd story? It was a pass for my two grandchildren just on general principles -- younger than 14. We took them to see "Enchanted" in Orlando.

We gave "Sweeney Todd" a B- on Ellen's Entertainment Report Card.

The MPAA rating is "R" -- of course.
