I have to say, I'm appalled.
Long story, but I just spent one night in a motel room with only basic basic cable, and boy howdy, was *that* a reminder of why I pretty much only watch movies and KO. Jeebus. :scared:

its beckoning.

2. That's why I don't even own a TV.
That, and I'm cheap. :P

3. Why watch that crap...
...when there's better things to do on the 'net? TV is a tool used to program you on a subliminal level to be a good subject...really, it is.

6. I'm very sorry that you were stuck with nothing else to do.
Having to resort to TV sucks. :(

I'll join the chorus here and say that living without TV is pretty cool.

7. Books! Books!
I always carry an "Emergency Book" with me in case I get stuck somewhere - heavy traffic jamb where nothing moves, office waiting room, long line at the bank/post office/grocery, drive-through anything. They're cheap, particularly at the used bookstore and the library. Stephen King does the same thing. It's nice to know I'm not the only one.

At least if you're stuck in a hotel room they almost always have a Bible. I'm not Christian/Jewish myself, but Ecclesiastes and the Song of Songs are fine poetry, and worth a close reading. You can also pick up a few verses to defend a Progressive view point for the next time you're confronted by fundies. Come to think of it, you can pick up a few verses to defend anything in the Bible, which is why folks who can quote it at length fail to impress me.
