Does anybody care to see my new GUITAR? *PICS*
:D Hey that got somebody's attention, I'm sure. Anyways, today I got a GUITAR. Yes, that is right. Now all I have to get is lessons ;-) I took some pictures and found the website for you all who are interested.

The website for this guitar is at http://www.taylorguitars.com/guitars/models/110.html

didnt know you played? Two of my best friends play too I dont play anything. Do they have a guitar class at your school? They do at mine. Hope you learn how to play. I am not that good with instruments more of a word artist than visual or audio one. BTW cool you got RFK avatar just noticed it now.

4. I don't know how to play yet, actually.
They don't have guitar lessons at my school, I have to take them from a music store or private, but it's OK. I am all sorts of creative, writing, visual and soon to be audio. I used to play piano and was rather good but I've always liked the acoustic guitar... so I got one. :)

Yeah! I noticed the RFK icon on the list of avatars so I had to put it on! Forgot you had it, though. :)

At first glance I thought it was John Kennedy... then I looked closer and realized it was Bobby. They do have a family resemblance, lol :)

12. yeah
You know whats funny JFK and RFK worked together for a long time but they were 8 years apart that would be like you or me working with a 7 or 8 year old but when you are an adult i guess it doesnt matter. JFK was to Teddy what I am to my youngest brother.
Wheres Teddy? Could you guys make one for my other favorite Kennedy I am kidding not about the avatar because I love all them Kennedies. Could we also have a French or German avatar flag for our French and German DUers.

2. Nice Axe
I'm envious.

I've been wanting a new guitar, not that there is anything wrong with my Seagull. I'd just like a fatter sound to make up for my lack of technical ability.

3. Congratulations!
My guitar is sitting on a stand just like that, in a corner between 2 bookshelves.

May your lessons be fruitful. I'm afraid I'm not musically inclined; 4 years later, and I can finger a few chords and thump out about 6 songs, mostly folkish stuff for my classroom. As long as no one over 9 is listening I get away with it. Still, I enjoy it even if no one around me does.

7. No question for me in deciding.
So many kids my age start out on electrics. Although I like electric guitars, there is nothing I like better than good acoustic guitar music (Like James Taylor). :)

my brother I dunno why my parents let him but he got a electric guitar at age 7 now he never uses it. I like acoustic and electric I like Hendrix and the like but a soothing acoustic like Marley he played acoustic I think is always a beauty.

picks?

Oh, guitar pics! Never mind.

Seriously, Taylor makes great acoustic guitars. My brother has one and it plays like a dream. However, I will stick with my Fender electric, thank you.

13. Fender electrics are great,
however not too much can be said for their acoustics. I played one today and it was HORRIBLE! For the same price as that Taylor. Ridiculous.

I wouldn't know if it's supposed to be *good* or not; mine was a gift. It serves my level of playing just fine, though.

15. Washburn is a very good name

its not only the sound but ease of play.

Some chaep guitars are hard on the fingers so people give up. A bit better than entry level is always best imho.

16. that is a beaut!!
I have a good friend who works over at Taylor. He would always call me up and tell me to switch to MTV, so I could check out a git he had built. Needless to say, he and most of my friends own several custom built Taylors. The sound is like no other, especially the 12 strings. Still waiting for my 5 string bass!

the prototype for the model named after him ( hint hint...it's dark...hint hint...but without the rose..hint hint) I noticed from your profile you are in San Diego....bet we've crossed paths!

My you be inspired & enjoy for many years to come. Build up those calluses on your fingers & listen to all those great women guitarists.
Even Bonnie Raitt started in her bedroom. As did Joni Mitchell & Lucinda Williams & Emmylou Harris. May your fingers fly!

26. I still have that!!
It was on one of my scribble note-sheets that I filled up during classes... I still have it.

Bright Shiny Suicide (Pain Within Glorious Song)

There once was a bird
A really cute bird
A really really really really
Really cute bird
I hate my life

(Chorus) When the birds fly and the sky is blue
The sinking feeling is chronic and so are you

Oh and that bird sang a glorious song
For a glorious day and
Oh God, my girlfriend left me

(Chorus)

And that really cute bird loved to fly
All day and all night and
Oh my God I want to kill myself

(Chorus)

25. Dang you don't even play yet and you got a Taylor??!!!
Good for you! The neck on that guitar is perfect for a woman (even young woman's) hand...the thinner neck gives you more reach! But keep it in the case rather than on the stand when you are not playing it...it's best to keep them away from weather to protect the integrity of the neck and back...moisture will bow the back.

If you are a piano player, the first clue to playing guitar is....a guitar is NOT a piano! :D

There are at least 4 possible ways to play every chord on a guitar on any 4 strings up the neck...it's abit of a geometric thing! Have fun! If you already have some music theory down, I find guitar a lot more fun to experiment with than piano ( I , too, play both)

Have FUN! and Beautiful guitar!

28. thanks for the tips
i have really long fingers, so I don't have too much of a problem with the width of the neck. Somebody once told me I had good guitar hands (and people tell me i've got piano hands too) so I decided, hey why the hell not. Yes, I know a Taylor for a first guitar- Mom really liked it and it was about 100 more than she'd have liked to spend but said if I let her play it sometimes she'd get it for "us". Thanks for the tips, I didn't realize keeping it in the case was better for it. They gave me a nice soft gig bag kind of case with it, not one of those hard ones. I like the soft better, i don't have much armstrength so it's easier to carry :-P

29. Yes many many reasons.
But mainly... I love the sound of an acoustic, it sounds more natural and fuller. Electric is fine when you know how to play it, but too many kids start off on electrics and they sound horrible.

30. Damn! That's a nice guitar!
I used to be a guitar guy, but I had to purge myself of hobbies a few years ago; too much clutter, not enough time for them all. Same old story.

I wish I had my US-made Fender Bullet H-2 back though. Talk about an amazing tonal range from one guitar. Oh well, I can always get another one if the mood strikes!

That is a very nice guitar though!

31. It looks like a great start
commit yourself to practicing for an hour a day, and you'll be golden. Don't overdo it and not want to practice the next day, do one hour a day no matter what, and you'll do very well. It's all about commitment.

Good luck.
