Do you connect songs with certain commericals or movie scenes?
Edited on Wed Aug-06-03 01:36 PM by Michael Daniels
In that, when you hear a recognizable song or piece of music in a commercial or movie do you automatically connect that song with that visual any time you hear that song after that?

For me -

"Anticipation" - Heinz Ketchup commercial

Beethoven's Pastoral Symphony - Roman/nature segment from Fantasia

"Night on Bald Mountain - Demon segment from Fantasia

"Old Time Rock and Roll" - the scene from Risky Business

Lou Reed's - "Perfect Day" - the overdose scene in Trainspotting

Obviously, every one would have something different but I was wondering if other people connect certain songs the same way.

1. "the thieving magpie"

Some radio commercials use that for a bed, which I always associate with a violent and shocking scene from "A Clockwork Orange", same for Beethoven's Ninth.

2. commercials ruined these 2 songs for me
"lust for life" and "blitzkrieg bop" -- now I think of cars and cell phones and shiny happy people when I hear these. that sucks!

4. I hear yah ...
Lust for Life was bad enough, but Blitzkreg Bop?!?!

Joey must be spinning in his grave.

But I have better association with BP. Joey died over the Easter Weekend and early Monday morning, ABC News marked both events by showing nice, cheerful children, bunnies, etc. to that song. It was great! It made me smile.

Happiness is a warm gun (Beatles) - NRA commercials

7. I hate Chevrolet
Because they ruined Like a Rock by Bob Seger. I once loved that song and I wish I could listen to it without Chevy trucks cruising around in my head.
