About a year and a half ago, I was in the ER. I was in a bed and I had some of those thingies taped to me. They had drawn some blood.
The trouble was, I had been there for about four hours with no further attention. I was near the nurses' station. They kept having very loud conversations right outside my door. One of the nurses in particular had a loud, annoying voice. Maybe it would not have been so annoying if I had not been sick, but what the hell? It was a hospital.
After awhile, I had to pee really badly. I ripped all the things off and put on my clothes. I found a restroom, then came back and sat in a chair near my bed. No one even noticed that I had gotten up and wandered around.
I had been disoriented. The reason I was there was that I had gotten up in the middle of the night and taken all the meds that I take during the day. I am not sure why I did that. I may have been sleepwalking. I had woken up with a start after a short time, because I realized that what I had done was dangerous.
I was still disoriented when I got up to find the bathroom.
After awhile, I am not sure how long, a doc came in and let me go home. I spoke to my doctors about the incident, and got them to adjust my meds. But I understand your concern. Was this ER overworked and crowded? The one I was in was not particularly busy. They just didn't give a damn.
