2. My dear Quakerfriend!
Yes, these are real images, taken with my 18-250mm Tamron lens on my Nikon D50 camera!

I had the lens out all the way, which does pull the images in quite a lot closer than they really are...

Glad you like them!

The snow was better than usual today...

4. In the summer in LA
you frequently can't see the mountains even when you are at the foot of them. In the winter though, after a big storm and the air is clear, the mountains are quite beautiful.

8. My dear montanto!
How true that is...

And unfortunately it's not limited to the summer...

Anytime there are a lot of clouds, or fog...

We might as well be living on a flat plain!

But today!

The way it ought to be, all the time!

14. My dear Green Meanie!
Aw, thanks, sweetie!

There's a park in Inglewood that's higher than the LA basin...

And that's where I went this morning when I saw the mountains...

I can see them from my street, but not this well!

The park's about 10 miles from my home...

Glad you're not tired of these yet!

15. These pics show Los Angeles as it really is.
We are nearly surrounded by mountains, which trap the air as a basin traps water.

The smog hugs the ground in the morning.

The air is clear above a certain altitude.

19. I lived in the LA basin for about 5 months before I realized one could see the mountains from it.
No offense Peggy, but what I always see of it is the smog.

20. My dear NNadir...
No offense taken!

There certainly are months when it looks as though we live on a plain...

Not a mountain in sight!

Not today, however...

And I do try to see whatever beauty there is, wherever I am...

Sometimes I do have to look pretty hard, I must admit...

from my time in Pasadena. I couldn't see the mountains from the freeway when the smog was bad.

Sweetie, it's been ages since I saw you!

Good to see you tonight...

I wish you were here, too...

Glad you like the pics!

I had to hustle to catch the mountains this morning...

By this afternoon, they were gone under a shroud of clouds...

25. I don't live in LA but I can see it too.
I live a good bit further east and can see snow-capped San Gorgonio in one direction and San Jacinto in the other. It's so gorgeous! I was just thinking today how nice it is to enjoy the sight of the snow without having to walk or drive in it.

And isn't it nice to see the hills green again? :bounce:

But it is a wonderful sight for us southern Californians. It's been a long time, hasn't it?

Thank you so much...

It really does sparkle!

The summers? Well........not so much!

The wonderful days we're having now are what make folks want to move here...

Till they find out about the traffic, and the horrifying cost of living!

It's always my pleasure to share...
