White Lightnin' - The Possum (George Jones)

Well in North Carolina, way back in the hills
Lived my old pappy and he had him a still
He brewed white lightnin' 'til the sun went down
Then he'd fill him a jug and he'd pass it around
Mighty, mighty pleasin, pappy's corn squeezin'
Whshhhoooh . . . white lightnin'

(Chorus)
Well the "G" men "T" men revenuers, too
Searchin' for the place where he made his brew
They were looking, tryin to book him, but my pappy kept a-cookin'
Whshhhoooh . . . white lightnin'

Well I asked my old pappy why he called his brew
White lightnin' 'stead of mountain dew
I took a little sip and right away I knew
As my eyes bugged out and my face turned blue
Mighty, mighty pleasin, pappy's corn squeezin'
Shhhoooh . . . white lightnin'

Well the "G" men "T" men revenuers, too
Searchin' for the place where he made his brew
They were looking, tryin to book him, but my pappy kept a-cookin'
Whshhhoooh . . . white lightnin'

Well a city slicker came and he said "I'm tough"
I think I wanna taste that powerful stuff
He took one s-s-slugand drank it right down
And I heard him a moaning as he hit the ground
Mighty, mighty pleasin, pappy's corn squeezin'
Whshhhoooh . . . white lightnin'

Well the "G" men "T" men revenuers, too
Searchin' for the place where he made his brew
They were looking, tryin to book him, but my pappy kept a-cookin'
Whshhhoooh . . . white lightnin'

As I was walkin round grosvenor square
Not a chill to the winter but a nip to the air,
From the other direction, she was calling my eye,
It could be an illusion, but I might as well try, might as well try.

She had rings on her fingers and bells on her shoes.
And I knew without askin she was into the blues.
She wore scarlet begonias tucked into her curls,
I knew right away she was not like other girls, other girls.

In the thick of the evening when the dealing got rough,
She was too pat to open and too cool to bluff.
As I picked up my matches and was closing the door,
I had one of those flashes Id been there before, been there before.

Well, I aint always right but Ive never been wrong.
Seldom turns out the way it does in a song.
Once in a while you get shown the light
In the strangest of places if you look at it right.

Well there aint nothing wrong with the way she moves,
Scarlet begonias or a touch of the blues.
And theres nothing wrong with the look thats in her eyes,

Wind in the willows playin tea for two;
The sky was yellow and the sun was blue,
Strangers stoppin strangers just to shake their hand,
Everybodys playing in the heart of gold band, heart of gold band.

Do You Know What I Mean - Lee Michaels

Been forty days since I don't know when
I just saw her with my best friend
Do you know what I mean?
Do you know, know what I mean?

I just saw her yesterday
I just saw her, asked her to stay
Do you know what I mean?
Lord, Do you know what I mean?

Her and Bobby were steppin out
Her and Bobby didn't know I found out
Do you know what I mean?
Do you know, know what I mean?

So I asked her if she still cared
She didn't hear me, she just stared
Do you know what I mean?
Lord, Do you know what I mean?

And then she said
Lee you haven't loved me in nearly four years
You haven't noticed that I held back my tears
And now you have, but it's really too late
Better find yourself another girl
Better find another girl
Better find uh, another place

She just left me yesterday
She just left me, had nothing to say
Do you know what I mean?
Oh, do you know what I mean?

She's a dandy, yes indeed
She's a dandy, but now she's free
Do you know what I mean?
Lord, do you know what I mean?

Been forty days since I don't know when
I just saw her with my best friend
Do you know what I mean?
Lord, do you know what I mean?

I just saw her yesterday
I just saw her, learn how to stay
Do you know what I mean?
Lord, Do you know what I mean?

Yeah, here comes it now..

Hoooo, help.. me

9. LEE Michaels!
Wow, what a wonderful time in my life .

The tune above was later. He played by himself with just a drummer named Frosty. And it was really really LOUD. No wonder he lost his hearing. Good times. He was West Coast, saw him a lot.

5. Your red scarf matches your eyes

You closed your cover before striking
Your father had the shipfitter blues
Loving you has made me bananas.

You burned your finger that evening
While my back was turned.
I asked the waiter for iodine,
But I dined all alone.

Your red scarf matches your eyes
You closed your cover before striking
Your father had the shipfitter blues
Loving you has made me bananas.

It's been a long time comin'
It's goin' to be a long time gone.
Appears to be a long time,
Yes, a long, long, long time
Before the dawn.

Turn, turn any corner.
Hear, you must hear what the people say,
You know there's something that's goin' on here,
That surely, surely, surely won't stand the light of day.
And it appears to be a long,
Such a long, long, long time before the dawn.

Speak out, you got to speak out against
The madness, you got to speak your mind,
If you dare.
But don't try to get you rself elected.
If you do you had better cut your hair.
'Cause it appears to be a long time,
Before the dawn.

It's been a long time comin',
It's been a long time gone.
But you know, the darkest hour,
Is always just before the dawn.

And it appears to be a long time,
Such a long, long, long time before the dawn
