Weird songs that are pretty.

"Quarterdrawing of the Dog" - Siouxsie and the banshees

This will be a good thread for me cos I need new music. The thread title pretty much covers my taste.

3. Have you heard the Langley Schools Music Project version?
Edited on Thu Feb-28-08 05:21 PM by MrCoffee
Talk about creepy as all hell.

I don't know what this video is, but the song is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-pzg4umqqg

Actually, the whole Langley cd fits the OP's description perfectly

47. Innocence And Despair is one of the great albums this decade
Even though it was originally made in the 70's; both "Desperado" and "Rhiannon" have never, ever sounded better...

14. "QE II" by Oldfield is both weird and pretty...
...Obscure, certainly, and not without its critics. But what "weird, pretty" music isn't?

To that, I'd add most of Nick Drake and Roy Harper. Fairport Convention. Brian Eno's first few solo albums.

44. LOL... "current fave"?
I guess you just discovered them.
An ex-boyfriend left his Talk Talk cassette tape in my car, back in 1988. I was happy about that, since he stopped calling me. And yeah, they're good!

21. Mars Volta - "Miranda, That Ghost Just Isnt Holy Anymore"
Edited on Thu Feb-28-08 09:45 PM by opiate69
http://youtube.com/watch?v=WAbD-pB3NHE

I’ve always wanted
To eat glass with you again
But I never knew how
How to talk without
Walls dropping on the eve
The nest they made couldn’t break you
Along the fallen
Scowled a fence of beaks
But the temple is scathing
Through your veins
They were scaling
Through an ice pick of abscess reckoning

And when Miranda sang
Everyone turned away
Used to the noose they obey

And whoever said that they would scatter
Separating the mother from child
She can bat a broken eyelid
Raining maggots from it’s sty
And with the traces that she leaves
She will skin you out alive

All the children go grinding their jaws
The sweet smell of their toothless canals
And the damn she will break,
Make an ocean from this lake
As they siphon off all our blood

And when Miranda sang
Everyone turned away
Used to the noose they obey

And when Miranda sang
Everyone turned away
Used to the noose they obey

And when Miranda sang
Everyone turned away
Used to the noose they obey

29. I would highly recommend Morcheeba's album Who Can You Trust
It's beautiful, haunting sounding at times and has a wonderfully eclectic blend of sounds to create a fairly unique sound.

Another group that goes well with Morcheeba is Thievery Corporation (album - The Mirror Conspiracy). You should be able to preview both these albums on iTunes if you'd like.
