"The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford"
Just watched it - what a great movie! It's long and leisurely (one reviewer said it was the first time she'd ever been asked to watch a book on tape) but I thought it was great.

Brad Pitt was terrific, and Casey Affleck was REALLY terrific - and lordy, he's a cutie, too!

The cinematography is beautiful, and the story is really interesting.

Monkeyfunk gives it two thumbs and a tail up!

1. was it shot in NM?
some of that scenery is so beautiful

and if you really want to live the movie check out this vacation idea

We will re-trace the over 125-mile route Billy the Kid took during his trek to Fort Sumner, New Mexico, after his infamous escape on April 28th, 1881, from the County Courthouse jail in Lincoln, New Mexico, USA.
This year we'll add a novel twist and backtrack the trail, leaving Fort Sumner on April 21st. and arriving in Lincoln on April 28th. Billy the Kid will be with us the entire ride, reliving his experience that became part of the legend.
On this ride, you will traverse over mountains, high desert grasslands, and through the Pecos River as we hear stories of Billy the Kid. We are co-coordinating special activities with Ft. Sumner (April 20th) and Lincoln (April 28th), please check back on this website for the latest details.

Calgary, Edmonton and Winnipeg.

And Billy the Kid wasn't in this movie.

5. Yes! You are correct, Mr. Funk.
Wonderful movie. And 19th Century Americana has kinda been holding my interest the last few months so it was all the better.

6. When my friends and I want to go out at night, and we're trying to get one of us to come with...
we now say, "Let me be your sidekick tonight so you can examine my grit and intelligence." :silly:

Yeah, it is a good movie. My only problem with the historical accuracy was the killing of Robert Ford. Ed O'Kelley and Ford knew each other. O'Kelley was associated with organized crime in Creede, CO, and likely took out Ford due to a rivalry over alcohol sales.

But, of course, the film makes O'Kelley look like he wants to kill Ford solely because of the James connection, which is not the case.

Anyway, it's a minor point, but it kinda ruined the end of the movie for me. Of course, I'm a raging fan of the Wild West, and I doubt most people even knew about that stuff, much less were actually bothered by it.
