A guy in a spa
My Rheumatologist has been recommending parafin treatments for my hands and feet. I haven't bought a parafin bath because without someone to do the work for me it's not practical.

So today I stopped in a spa. I was only intending to get the parafin treatment but... I'm having trouble reaching my feet, and I refuse to have bad feet so I got a pedicure too. Not bad. I can understand why women keep going back.

I think I'm going to have not choice about the pedicure when my back is being a problem. I guess that doesn't seem like such a bad thing anymore.
:P

I have to tell you that the parafin wax is the most amazing thing! OMG! It just soaks into your joints! I love that stuff!

I will be going for just the parafin wax treatment more often, finances permitting.

So, um, anyone want to hang out at a spa as a DU meetup. :P

2. Come on down.
:)

It was me and a bunch of college women hanging out. The spa is right next to NYU.

They'll wonder what the hell's suddenly bringing guys in there. :P

It seems to have gotten REALLY slow right then anyway. Like everybody headed off at the same time.

The pedicure is a game misconduct. Hit the showers, Thommy!

7. Oh yeah, that's me.
A feminist bad boy, deliberately breaking gender rules. :P

I'll try not to break any more of them in the locker room. :)

8. What would it take to earn a woman card violation?
Tuning up the lawnmower? Learning to pee standing up?

:P

You're totally allowed (nay, encouraged!) to be better groomed than our hetero counterparts. So go, and enjoy being pampered!

26. A big reason for this
is that I refuse to be poorly groomed.

I can't be better groomed. The arthritis won't allow it. But with a bit of help I'll at least be able to keep myself up. :)

Being pampered is an excellent side effect though. :P

11. I used to offer parrafin baths
when I had my massage practice. It was always a big hit.

The only time I received one myself was in massage school in hydrotherapy class, and it was great. I highly reccomend them. Also good is a contrasting bath, which you can do at home !

12. I have a home parafin treatment thing.
It IS amazing. Totally soaks into my elbows and reduces the pain tremendously.

They're not that expensive, either.

21. I've seen the home set-up.
I haven't purchased it because it looks like a lot of work to clean and maintain, which I just can't do. And I can't expect someone else to do that for me.

If I'm wrong, and it's really low maintenance, please jump in and tell me. :)

if you're coming down.

You, me, Pri and any other Absolutely Awesome DUers who can join us! :grouphug:

Though, even if it's just 3 or 4 of us, that would be fantastic too. (Infomaniac would definitely be interested in joining us. She loves both of you. I don't know if Zornhau would want to hang out in a spa. :P )

19. Did you watch Hell's Kitchen last night? That had a man in a spa.
I love spas - pedicures are wonderful, but I'm a bigger fan of the facial with scalp and shoulder massage. Mmmm... both are truly wonderful.

29. I have never had a facial.
I just had to find a new place to get my hair cut because my regular place wasn't wheelchair accessible.

The new place does very thorough scalp massages as part of the shampoo. I was impressed. It's a Japanese owned/semi-themed hair salon in Chelsea. I don't know if the scalp massage is included because it's a cultural thing or because it's a higher-end service addition.

30. I should suggest that to my dentist.
He's on Madison Avenue, and given what he charges he should include some ammenities. :P

I hope you have been outside enjoying the wonderful weather. I hear we're getting rain for the rest of the week. :(

37. That had to be a nightmare to coordinate.
:wow:

If they used the pots of liquid wax then that's a whole lot of pots of wax. If they used the gloves, then that's a lot of people sitting around with their hands stuffed in messy gloves. Someone must have been running around going nuts just managing the logistics. :P
