Damn armpit/lymph node pain from the interferon is back...Ow ow ow..Maybe slightly better than last week but not much...And at almost the exact same time after injection..about 24 hours. Well at least now I'm sure thats the cause...

I've taken interferon before, 1X weekly for 6 months. No lymph node problems, but nausea, fever, aches, chills. I was useless for 2 days a week.

I contracted malaria many years back and the interferon triggered an attack every time.

I'm really sorry about your pain.

I am responding here because I know that armpit pain is so.fucking.miserable.

I had an infection go bad on my hand...got streaks up my arm, then the nodes swelled for a week. It HURTS...and it wears you down.

Treat yourself well and try to keep the pressure off it.

Remember, it will not last for ever, it only feels like it will.

6. When it first came out, the shot was 3 times a week!

I don't take interferon, but do tons of workshops on HCV, and alpha-interferon is used in treatment, as well as for other things.

I try and add some levity by telling the following anecdote:

Our bodies naturally produce interferon. You know know you get the flu and feel all achy? That's not the flu causing that but our immune system's response telling you to take it easy while it figures out how to get rid of that bug. So the next time you're feeling sick, instead of telling your boss you have the flu, just call and tell them your body's producing too much alpha-interferon and you need to take a few days off from work. And get back to me with their response. :)
