At the Commonwealth Club. For shits and giggles, I thought I might go.

And, wear a DU tee-shirt.

Good idea? Bad idea?

4. Seriously? A friend of mine is going.
Wonder if that only applies when there's not a special event?

And, frankly, I wouldn't cross the street to see Cheney. :blech:

5. Well, admittedly this was in 1987 that I lived in Richmond

The Commonwealth Club might have joined the 20th century since then.

But it was a pretty backwards policy even then...the manager of internal auditing couldn't go to a company dinner there, because she was a woman. The CEO was embarrassed about it, since he realized what an out-of-touch policy it was.

One of many reasons I was glad to leave Richmond.

Edit: Yep, still true, sad to say:

In the Commonwealth Club, Gibson sees not “a bunch of old guys smoking cigars” who didn’t care if their refuge was musty, but an organization that has always been willing to look ahead. Instead, “It’s been a very open club,” Gibson says — well, as open as an exclusive, men’s-only society can be.

"willing to look ahead"
