especially the one of that little kid with the disfigured face.
I have, ocassionally, mentioned ads that I found amusing or even untasteful for a site like DU (in particular the one for the reelection of Jeff Sessions to the Senate from Alabama), but never as a complaint. I understand that DU has to have money coming in to provide a wonderful site like this.
Actually, I think I have only mentioned the ads on two or three occassions. I always get two or three snarky responses that I could make them go away by donating.
In my last post on this (the one about Sessions) I mentioned that I am a full time graduate student, currently unemployed because my graduate assistant position was not available this summer. Having a little trouble with the electric bill right now. I have donated in the past, but just I don't have any money to donate right now.
I certainly understand the need for funds. I have assisted with raising funds for and coordinated volunteers for Democrats, worked for and volunteered for campaigns, etc. I have worked damned near non-profit all my life. This is just to say that I have always been fine with the ads.
But this last round of ads with the ad bots in every thread, in the middle of everything. And that poor kid with the disfigured face that I would help if I could ... well, you got to me.
So I will just take an extended leave ... until I can afford to donate.
