I spoilered it for myself, just because I knew it would be stupid.

I'm sorry for your loss. Of 8 dollars. And 3 hours.

even though sham.lyin doesn't deserve it

plants get tired of the bad mojo people have, so they evolve into systems which let off a clear, scentless gas which makes people want to kill themselves

3. After Signs
You'd have to pay me to see one of his films.

His movies are filmed in Surround Suck.

10. The Holy Trinity of Suck:
M Night Shyamalan
Adam Sandler
Mike Myers

Despite how I might of felt about each ten years ago, if I were presented in front of each of the aforementioned, I'd promptly ask for a refund (or refunds depending if there were multiple offenses) and some sort of compensation for the hours of my life I will never get back.

Stay away, people. Stay. Away.

12. What's sad about ol' Mike
He seemed to have such a grasp on comedy. When I first saw him on SNL in the early 90s, I would have never thought he'd end up irrelevant and, even worse yet, pretentious.

Oh, how the mighty have fallen.

16. I dumped a guy because he loved Adam Sandler movies...
In fact, Adam Sandler probably saved my marriage, after 6 months of seperation from Mr. mcctatas, the one guy I actually thought I might see a future with invited me over for dinner and movies. When he said it was going to be an Adam Sandler marathon, I immediately called my estranged hubby and said "Couples counseling is all we need". I will take my husbands odd love of the Terminator flicks over Adam freaking Sandler any day of the week;)

32. Yeah. That's definitely a dealbreaker if I've ever heard one.
I'd rather watch every episode of Friends (the worst television show ever) back to back than have to sit through 20 minutes of any Sandler flick.

15. Worst use of gratuitous violence - ever. {spoiler}
A riding lawn mower? Not that any of the other "methods" were believable. That's one sick puppy (and movie). If you haven't seen it -- don't bother.

28. I won't be seeing it, partly because of the violence,
since I'm ultra-sensitive to the emotional effects of such things (there are a few "guilty pleasures in violent movies, like The Professional or Akira.)

But there's also the idea that if the "plants' revenge" is the reason for the mass suicides, then the plants are committing suicide along with the rest of us. No one, including the writer/director, seemed to bother remembering that humanity has built some rather dangerous machines like refineries, nuclear power plants, nuclear weapons manufacture, fuel/oil tankers, drilling platforms, and whatever others I can't think of at the moment. With no (or not enough) humans to continue to operate these systems, there would be catastrophic breakdowns. At the same time, cities would be catching on fire from neglect (irons left on, people electrocuting themselves and starting fires, food left to burn, cleaning services letting clothing burn up, and so on.) How many disasters on the roads with tank trucks as their drivers commit suicide? Refineries have more than just oil and gas in them. Look up hydrofluoric acid or vinyl chloride sometime.

And I would think at least one nuclear maintenance tech would commit suicide by setting off the nuke they were working on...

An "idea" never makes for a good story. Better research, better knowledge of the possibilities and better "execution" would have made this a better movie.

Even his so called "good" work has been only mediocre and heavily derivative of other, better films.

26. I like Unbreakable more
Hated Sixth Sense. Did see Signs, it had a nice creepy thing going for it but then you discover that aliens who are killed by water landed on a planet that's 66% water. Yeah, real smart.

Unbreakable is slow as fuck, but when they are done right, I enjoy slow movies. Kind of like Michael Clayton.

27. I loved Michael Clayton, but thought Unbreakable should have been
called Incomprehensible. It was like watching the later seasons of the X-Files...it starts to dawn on you after awhile that THEY have no idea where they're going with the story, and YOU'RE just along for the ride. You realize you're in unsafe hands. :D

30. I liked Unbreakable as well.
I figured out the Sixth Sense about 10 minutes into the movie, and I did like Signs. Mostly because I like Joaquin Phoenix. The Village was beyond stupid and I haven't seen Lady in the Water.

So, what are the spoilers in the Happening?

34. I have to respectfully disagree...
I knew how it was going to end 5 minutes in. The "twist ending" was hardly original (it's one of the oldest in the horror genre), and the film's trailer gave it away.

Not a "great" film by any means. At best, more like a well-executed student film, and not one without flaws.
