On the heels of mycritters2's thread about the FUCK belt buckle, do any of you
guys never swear? Or do you know someone who never swears? My next door neighbor, a dad of two, has never cursed in his life. I think that's interesting because here at Chez Midlo, it's anything goes.

5. Stay away from him
Somebody that repressed that he never cuts loose with a bad word is bound to blow one day.

6. I'm amazed at the strength of my super-ego.
I'm brilliantly adept at cussing like a stevedore when with friends, while never such a word crosses my lips around church folks. I'll slip up some day, I'm sure. But so far, so good.

So, no. I'm not one of those who never swear. But there are people who think I am.

13. That's my biggest fear working at a school...
I curse like a damn sailor and I don't know how effectively I can "turn it off". Granted it would be at a high school so it's not as bad as if I were swearing at 6 year olds, but still I don't want any angry calls from parents...at least until I get tenure

7. I have two employees who don't swear.
Nice religious ladies. I have to make sure my staff doesn't swear around them, or else it's a hostile work environment. But as soon as they walk out the door, it's like the swear button got pushed!

9. OktoberKid has never said a "bad" word--not even as a toddler.
I've always found that strange, because the vast majority of toddlers will say "bad" words at least once--then they learn that some words are not appropriate for children to use, yadda yadda, and stop doing it (where the grownups can hear) until they're teens. OktoberKid on the other hand has never (to my knowledge) uttered a single swear word. It's very odd. He also gets upset and apologizes profusely if he accidentally sticks his middle finger up higher than the others.

My child is painfully polite to strangers and Adults, too--lots of "Sir" and "Ma'am", always please and thank you. He's very serious most of the time, and his teachers just rave about how Well-Behaved he is in class. He's a pretty normal little bucket of sass with me and ThinkBlue1966, though. :)

10. I probably go a minute or two without swearing
Like when I'm reading or something. But since I'm usually thinking cuss words, it probably doesn't fucking count.

11. Hahahahahahahaha
I swear a LOT. Though I am blessed with the ability to turn it off...which comes from growing up in a household where swearing was worthy of severe punishment.

"Do any of you F#cking C#nts have any F#gs" in a surprisingly loud drunken brogue.

Needless to say Applebees was not amused.

17. Ha. When I was pregnant with BoyMidlo, I was driving somewhere
with TM in the backseat; she was maybe 16 months old. Well, I started to pull into a parking space and someone beat me to it. So, I said 'Shit'.

From the backseat 'Thit. Thit. Thit.'

And, we were going to see my folks.

19. I once had a Vietnamese girlfriend, and the strongest thing she ever said was
"Oh, my goodness." Sigh...between her stunning beauty and her accent, I always melted into a puddle when she said that. Or when she said pretty much anything else.

20. I hardly ever swear
I swear to myself sometimes, but that's not out loud and only directed at myself when doing something stupid.

However, the last time I swore out loud where somebody could hear me was in the summer of 2004.

24. My mother taught me
That swearing was "taking the Lord's name in vain." Any other words were not swearing, but just bad language.

So, with that definition, I never swear. And my bad language isn't too bad--maybe a "crap" once in a while...

25. I try not to curse, but they slip out.
I try not to curse, but they slip out. Not often-- three to four curse words/phrases a day when speaking aloud. I used to curse like a... person who curses a lot, then I moved in with a young lady with two small children and I began to hold back.

After that, I simply tried to get myself in the habit of using colorful phrases rather than cursing so that I don't have to change gears every time I'm in a new environment.

It's just another habit-- tough to get out of, but then the contrast between who curses and how much becomes very, very obvious. Weird stuff.
