I think I tried the "pig blood rice appetizer" at a Chinese restaurant today

A friend from Taiwan (she came to the U.S. in 2003) offered to take me out for "real" Chinese food today because it's my birthday. We both ordered beef chow mein but she also ordered an appetizer that looked like rice bound together with something brownish and shoved into a Dixie Cup like a mold and then turned out onto a plate.

Being the respectful guy I am, I tried it without asking what it was. It tasted like relatively mild, bland rice.

Then I got home and looked up the restaurant on Yelp and one of the regulars was raving about the pig blood rice appetizer.

And I thought "been there, seen that, done that...MAYBE."

1. Eeee... maybe? I hate to say it but I am pretty bad about trying new foods. I doubt I would

A couple of minutes, and several gruesome spatters, later, I learned that this, too, was made with blood, a delicacy (?) colloquially known as "chocolate meat". :puke:
