Yikes! What do you say to that? Both times, I felt like I should look around and make sure there weren't half a dozen little irises hanging off the cuff of my shorts. I always just say, "It works for me!"

3. I am going to have to google that.
One of the joys of being gay is not having to worry about such things.

5. don't think I haven't considered that!
Actually, this company also makes some kind of "cleanser" packaged in a similar way. I almost bought it but fortunately realized it before it was too late!

4. Reminds me of a friend....
Edited on Fri Jul-25-08 04:08 PM by SacredCow
His wife sent him (so I went along for the ride) to the store to get a feminine hygiene product that has been the subject of much discussion here (that was a weird request, but whatever)... He puts it down on the counter then notices that there are Rolaids on a rack nearby (he had chronic acid reflux) so he grabbed a couple of rolls. Then (in his smartass voice) says to the girl ringing him up... "I really like that new vinegar and water flavor, but it gives me heartburn something AWFUL!!!"

Edited for myspellllinggg...

... Until he told her that he was just being silly...

Me? I was trying to disappear behind the magazine rack.

7. LOL. A few summers ago,
we were on vacation in Cape Cod. My brother and his wife took the six kids one day and we took them one day so each couple could have a nice dinner out.

These six babies, at the time, all looked remarkably alike, kind of like me, and when we would go into any store, or what have you, the clerk's face would pale and ask if they were all ours.

The age proximity must have been a real shocker.

17. how did that even come up? Were you buying it at the time?
I can see where it may embarrass to be asked that but honestly, I can see myself asking that question if it's something that I've never heard of. Maybe that's inappropriate but I think of it as a sisterhood of women thing -- we're all in this together and if we know of something that's really a great product (especially when it comes to reproductive health!) we should share that information.

18. Yes. I was buying it.
And it's not that I mind so much the question as being asked to say whether or not this is good for preventing pregnancy. For me, over 35, in monogamous relationship where an unplanned pregnancy would not be the end of the world, it works. For a 20-something young woman, maybe not so much. But more than I'd want to get into while in line at the drugstore.

I've never even heard of that kind of birth control so I know I'd be curious (although as of next Friday I will become surgically sterile, yay!!!)

20. I think that the people ringing up your purchases at stores should probably not comment on them.
I'd be annoyed.

21. DEFINITELY should not. It's a tacit rule that the cashier doesn't "notice" the items.
Ley ALONE comment on them.

Yeah, I guess it would be boring and all, but still.

25. I would NEVER comment on something that personal...
Whether one of the 300 varieties of 'energy drink' which we carry but i haven't tried tastes good, maybe...
(i'm sure even that would offent some, but at $3 a bottle/can, i can't afford to try them all, and some taste like horse piss)

A personal health product? no way.

24. yeah, but it was not so much the question as much as the manner of her trying to get information
from a stranger that should best be gotten at Planned Parenthood that bothered me. As someone who works in education, I'm usually inclined to give way more information to young people than they really want, but that just wasn't the place for me to clear up the misinformation of the abstinence only education she probably got at public school.

23. For shits and grins, go to a "toy" store with a girlfriend that has a good sense of humor.
I guarantee you'll be asked some very interesting and intrusive questions. And, learn more than you EVER wanted to know.

26. I guess I'm 'old school,' but if a stranger asked me anything
that personal, they'd get the steely stare from hell,
and a frozen: "It's none of your damn business."

I would think store personelle would get the lecture
from the boss: "Do not comment or ask customers anything
about their purchase unless they are using it to harm
you or another person in the vicinity."
Dissatisfied customers find other venues in which to
shop; impertinent employees do not benefit the business.

It's called courtesy; they are there to aid in the
purchase of whatever you are there to 'trade,'
and their opinion isn't worth a thing.

Sheesh. As I said, I may be old school,
but what they think doesn't matter.
