4. 3 preps
:)

But, that can change... :o
Meanwhile, will have a very full IEP schedule the first three months, and all those meetings are held during the school day.

2. Someplace teaches actual academics to SpEd kids?
Awesome! As for me, I was pretty much self-taught, when not being mainstreamed. Then again, that was 30-plus years ago... (sigh) :eyes:

5. We even have SpEd kids on diploma track
as opposed to the few that are on Certificate of Completion

3. That does look like a tough schedule. Are any of them collaborative or all self-contained?
I am very fortunate to have only one prep, Geometry and all of my classes are collaborative. Good luck with yours. It looks like you are going in with the right attitude!

6. Am excited about the variety of subjects!
:woohoo:

The SpEd students have class schedules like everyone else, so, no, not self-contained (these are LD and MMH...or MMR, dependent upon area/regional acronym usage.) And, some (mostly the LD students) also attend mainstream classes. All IDEA compliant here as much as possible.

Last year I taught two 2-block periods consisting of Algebra Readiness and AlgebraI Support Skills.

8. Had 25 last year
Expect at least that many again this year

But, sure beats the year I was the ONLY LD teacher in an elementary school...had over 60 on caseload.
And that was when you still had to hand rite out all the IEPs in triplicate, some forms in quadriplate.
..and DAMN! my writing hand was swollen for all those end of the year cases! x(

Thank goodness for computers and IEP and test scoring programs!!!! :bounce:
