Anyone here ever try gelato?
Just saw it on the Food Network, sort of an Italian ice cream.

There are some gelato shops in the US now.

4. How is compared to "regular" ice cream?
And does it cost more?

5. I think the process is different - and it does cost somewhat more
a little goes a long way since it is so rich and thick. It almost looks like fudge! Where we go it is all handmade, I think.

6. Hells yeah. Had it at least once a day in Italy. My favorite was chocolate chili.
I've also had it in New York, Vancouver and here in Chicago, but the best was in Italy.

7. We have a great gelato shop in my town
the flavors are more sophisticated and it's got a lot less fat than ice cream. It's absolutely fabulous

8. It's lovely
I quite like gelato better than the regular ice cream. I'm more a yoghurt or gelato person (I LOVE soft ice-cream).

10. It's the undisputed king of frozen desserts
In Italy, there are neat little gelato shops on nearly every corner in the big cities. They sell every kind of liqueur and coffee but their primary reason for existence is gelato. It's great stuff which I missed until the local supermarket chain, Hannaford, started carrying their own brand. I periodically buy the rich chocolate variety, take it home and go nuts with a spoon. Comparing gelato to ice cream is like comparing Old Speckled Hen English Ale to Budweiser. Richly flavored, creamy and soft straight out of the freezer.

11. Yeah. You can get in at the supermarket right below the neopolitan Hood icecream.
It's yummy, depending on the flavor.

17. Delicious...my kids love it, too!
We have a local place that sells a "Bambino Sampler" -- 5 small scoops of gelato for $2.50.

My kids love going there and trying out new flavors!!

Gelato rocks!
