1. that was Anne Frank's full name
that was also the name of the girl child I never had.. but it was a mix of two family names in that case.

I put in a vote for Anneke (how it's spelled in Dutch.. "ke" means little.) Here I guess it would be Annika.

14. No, point at that one above
who thinks that "Annie" is a nickname for a baby Wolverine! That sounds like blood in the water, my friend.

15. Liesl
That's the Austrian way of shortening it. Wasn't one of the kids in "The Sound of Music" named Liesl?

16. I had a friend in college named Anneliese...
we called her Lisie but people always misspelled it Lisi so by graduation both were acceptably-common.

17. This is a very self-serving poll
Because LisaM wants Anneliese to be called Little LisaM for obvious reasons. Others in the M family (of which I am one) disagree.

So don't let what looks like an innocent poll fool you....

20. I LOVE that name!
Years ago when I was in high school, I took German and we had to pick a German name. Mine was Anneliese. I have a niece named Anneliese also.

In which case, "Wolverine" is the only credible option.
