This just means that the site has been dialed back on functionality due to heavy server load. Things like image and avatar loading are sacrificed to allow the site to keep operating with some semblance of normality. When the load gets more to normal levels, I suspect the avatars and images will return.

Hell, it just means that DU rules cause so many people want to post here. ;)
