Pictures of flowers are a dime a dozen. Where would you see one where the surrounding foilage is chawed away by who-knows-what?!1 Actually, after most of a year of tending this canna plant, this is the FIRST bloom. So pretend that the eaten-away leaves are dainty needlepoint of some kind, or something like that.
My latest (last?) bells. I started collecting bells because of my 2 Navy ships, you know, every ship has a BELL. So I've lost count, and ROOM!1 I put out the word to family and friends, NO MORE BELLS!1 Most of them, I bought myself at flea markets, junkyards, "antique" shops, 2nd hand stores. But several were brought back by pals from their trips.
Outside there is a rooster bell at the front gate, a little garden bell (hummingbird), and in the back tree a big black iron ranch bell.
Then there are all these mostly small, metal (mostly brass, a few copper & silver) handbells inside on a shelf (that HAS no more room): 2 pineapple (good for bringing good fortune) bells, then from my sister's travels (Don Quijote, Rome, Pompeii, Seattle Space Needle), then from my flea markets/junk shops/"antique" shops: Buddhist prayer bells, a large deer with antlers, a Tiffany lampshade, carousel horse, unicorn, Harley Davidson, G-Clef, several from Mexico, two LARGE Mexican eagle/snake/nopal bells, and many more.
Well, pals who ignored the memo (NO MORE BELLS) brought me three or SIX (depending on how to count) more from their vacation in Guadalajara. The first one is an artisan type. I added the
BLUE ribbon for the Democratic victory in November. Then there's the little brass, then the clear glass. The one on the wall is a triple job--or single unit--(hence the counting problem) that is metal but (painted?) to look like CHOCOLATE.
