I need good ideas for get-well/cheer-up gifts

I have a friend who recently moved to Arizona for a new job. Within weeks of getting out there, she was diagnosed with lymphoma. Her husband is with her, but they have no other family or friends in the area. She was responding really well to chemo, but she's just developed a terrible infection that led to surgery (removal of much of her large intestine). :(

I am SO worried about her, and her husband... I want to send something that might make her smile. Any good ideas? She's in the ICU, so no plants or flowers are allowed. She is a vet and a HUGE animal lover, so bonus points for cute animal ideas...

1. Send her pictures of your manders

and if you have any of her and animals or her and you.... you should send them to.....

in a nice album or a montage frame

maybe adopt a whale or some other animal in her name....
or even a star....
