Sunrise, seen from sound side, over Topsail Island, NC (a NC barrier island). I think that's a Green Heron on that post:

Bottlenose dolphin in Topsail Bay:

A cannonball jellyfish:

Octopus tangled in our line was released unharmed:

Great White Egret hunting in the marsh:

:hi:

5. We ended up releasing most all the fish we caught
because they weren't big enough to be keepers. We are very careful to release things accidentally caught, like the octopus, which was beautiful.

6. We did
but most of them were on the small side. So we released them. My nephew, who was with me and my dad, was happy to catch and release anyway.

On another day, my dad caught some spanish mackerel.

7. I love the North Carolina Coast!
I need to go there. I have been to Beaufort, Emerald Isle and Morehead City.

9. This time of year is particularly beautiful
but any time at the NC coast is wonderful, imho. :hi:

Beaufort is so charming it hurts (or it was a few years back when I was there last).

10. I will always call the Piedmont Triad of North Carolina home but
I also hope to have a home on the coast so I can get away sometimes.

12. Beautiful...
My favorite one is the octopus. But the jellyfish is a close second. :)

Then, plop, back into the water.

20. Oh my gosh, that octopus pic is fantastic!
You can almost hear him telling you exactly what he thinks about all this.

Is that just one octopus or two?

The jellyfish picture is great, too.
