What is it about the smell of popcorn...
it makes you want some, whether you're hungry or not -- hell, whether you LIKE it or not -- and the smells lingers so you can't forget that you don't necessarily want any.

And you just aren't completely happy and satisfied until you get some.

1. Depends, is it fresh popped or nuclear popcorn?
I cannot stand the smell of microwave popcorn.

3. Nuclear.
And it's some sweet shit, too...for the longest time, I couldn't figure out what it was and then, when it finally occurred to me...now I want popcorn.

The real stuff. Cooked on the stove.

Speaking of which...we bought a new stove last spring and I haven't done popcorn on it yet and I'm a-skeered to. It's a ceramic top and I'm afraid of fucking it up.

5. We have a ceramic cooktop and do popcorn all the time.
You just have to make sure you have the pot just a bit above the burner when you shake it.

6. Good.
It took me until last week to get up the nerve to break out my cast iron. I've never in my adult life gone this long without using either the big skillet or my cast iron dutch oven.

4. Yup.
And the constant popping...one batch right after another.

When I cook it on the stove it doesn't last as long. When the kids nuke it, it hangs in the air forever, though.
