So what you all need to do in the meantime is to come up with ways to talk about bodily functions but by using Lord of the Rings material as metaphors/similes.

Such as, "Oops - I gotta run to Orthanc - feels like a Balrog's working its way out!"

5. When I have insomnia
I watch any part of the "James subplot" from Twin Peaks.

Works like a charm.

6. Ooooh, yeah, as a die hard Twin Peaks fan, that was bad.

7. None too fond of Ben's protracted Civil War delusion, either
Having just recently completed our latest viewing of the whole series, I can say that the non-Lynch episodes contain a lot of stuff that's close to unwatchable. If not for that kind of crap, Peaks would be unambiguously hailed as the greatest series ever. Instead, we fans have to do a lot of apologizing and explaining...

8. Indeed.
But whatever, as a whole, it was still brilliant.

9. Absolutely!
The dream sequences alone are reason enough to watch the whole series.

10. Plus the entire series finale with the whole being inside the Black Lodge bit.
Brilliant.

4. I prefer replacing words with 'pants' or some relation therein.
Works for both Star Wars and Lord of the Rings pretty well.

"Chewie and I have gotten into pants more heavily guarded than these."

"One pair to rule them all, one pair to find them, one pair to bring them all, and in the darkness zip them."

Or, as Gandalf is clinging to the edge before he falls after the Balrog, "Your flies, you fools!" :P

That, and every time the Ents march to war, I like to say, "Run, Forrest, run!"
