Poll question: Don't you just love it when
a former employer lies to the state unemployment office about the reason you were fired from a job to avoid paying you benefits. This just happened to someone I know.
Filing an appeal is the only way to go.

4. do you mean Cooperate or Corporate?
they did that to my wife. They accepted it, then a month later tried to make up a story about having given many warnings etc. She appealed, and they had NO paper to back any of their claims, so she got her unemployment. I kinda wonder if the company is still even there now. Its only been a year.

6. oops ~ corporate
I hope my friend's luck is that good. It took a month and a half to find out that there is no money coming in right now. I'm sending a food care package.

9. I hope so too
Its all pretty sucky, one way or another. and they will hassle ya. We were lucky in that we had a pretty ironclad case, and it was VERY easy to catch then in a number of undeniably stupid lies, which made our whole argument a lot stronger. I wish your friend luck in this.

5. That happened to me. I appealed, and I won.
The assholes even lied in the follow-up interview with employment security.

But I won.

I had documentation to support my side of the argument.

All they had was "he said, she said."

8. I appealed and won
The company gave bogus reasons why I shouldn't be paid unemployment. One was that I wasn't a U.S. citizen - that one got smacked back in their faces in 10 seconds because it's not an acceptable reason if the person in question (me) is in the US legally AND has a green card. I can't remember what the other reason was, but it was equally idiotic.

17. The employer should pay when they fire someone unfairly.
They are trying to get out of paying their part.

:hi: Thanks for adding your thoughts.
