Zeppelin to go back on the road - without Robert Plant
Zeppelin to go back on the road

Rock legends Led Zeppelin are planning to tour and record but without frontman Robert Plant.

Bassist John Paul Jones told BBC Radio Devon that a new singer was being sought after Plant ruled himself out.

The last time the band performed together was at the O2 arena in London in December 2007.

Speculation has since been rife that the surviving members of the band, with Jason Bonham, son of their late drummer John Bonham, would go back on the road.

Jones, speaking at a guitar show in Exeter, Devon said: "We are trying out a couple of singers.

"We want to do it. It's sounding great and we want to get on and get out there."

He said that he and guitarist Jimmy Page along with drummer Jason Bonham did not want a replica of Plant.

11. I read an old Rolling Stone interview
At the very beginning of their career, and Page said he wanted Steve Marriott, but John Bonham told him of this amazing singer in the Coventry area (Plant) and the rest is history.

13. Might have worked out better for Steve - he had a terrible life
after Humble Pie.
His story on Wiki is really sad.

7. That's always funny
When only you got one or two original members touring as the band. I'd have more respect and interest if they called themselves something like, "The guys who used to be ________"

9. Then they better not call themselves "Led Zeppelin"
It's one thing to replace John Bonham with his son, but replacing the voice of Zep is totally different.

15. I'm the biggest LZ fan ever and worshipped Robert Plant and guess what
Fuck Robert Plant. If he can't do this one last time for the fans then he can kiss my ass and I'll be happy to shill out the big bucks to see Led Zeppelin with whomever they put in as lead singer.

He's being an ass and lets face it, it was Jimmy Page who was the heart and soul of the band up until the later years when John Paul Jones held the band together.

17. Original choice Terry Reid perhaps?
I thought the Jason Bonham version was a terrible idea, but a Plant-less LZ is just ridiculous

20. You know they're probably considering him.
"Still of the Night" is a blatant Zeppelin rip-off if I've ever heard one.

26. He's busy making the long awaited 7th Van Halen album
By the time they get it finished, it will be about 25 years between records. Hell not even Boston could top that.

As for the Zeppelin thing.... if it ain't Plant, don't bother. If Page & Jones want to work together, fine. But don't degrade the name like that so called "Queen" fiasco.

There's only one Freddie Mercury. There's only one Robert Plant. You just don't throw anybody into their shoes and keep the band name.
