War of the Worlds anniversary

It's the 70th anniversary of that infamous War-of-the-Worlds broadcast:

It reminded me of the time I listened to an old man tell me of when he listened to War of the Worlds with his friends. He knew what it was because it was part of a regular broadcast of sci-fi programs that he listened to every week. He swears they never announced what the show was before the start of the show.

And our generation has experienced the same thing as those who listened to WOTW...we had a phony broadcast regarding WMD.

and the book "The Panic Broadcast" by the script writer, Howard Koch — who also wrote the shooting script for "Casablanca."
