1. Oh, no....that makes me sad

I had the honor of meeting him once, when he received the Eugene V. Debs Award. He signed my program with the note "Grace and beauty" and I treasure that souvenir to this day. What a classy guy, and what a wonderful writer and voice for the common man/woman.

I absolutely adore his style — just turn on the tape recorder and let 'em talk, "'em" being a well-chosen cross-section of socio-economic-political backgrounds.
