I'll go first...

American Idol. If someone could please explain to me what specifically I'm supposed to like about this show, I would really appreciate it. I don't even like the beginning part of the season where they show the ones who are completely awful and Simon rips them a new shit chute.

I can eat shellfish though.

17. They look like logs of butter?
These are the places I've lived:

Dallas, Texas
College Station, Texas (Gig 'em)
Columbus, Georgia
Phenix City, Alabama (right next door to Columbus)

That's it dude. That's where I've lived. And I've never been to New York. The closest I got was Brick, New Jersey in January. And all I did was cry because instead of gloves I had socks for gloves and my hands hurt from the cold and my new grandparents-in-law looked at my new husband and felt it would be best if he took me back to warmer places. So bye bye the general New Yorkish area, someday I will see it.

So are they logs of butter? Surely people don't eat that. With....dark chocolate in there?

19. Because I was a stupid 21 year old who had never been anywhere
and I didn't understand when my new husband said "no, there's LOTS of snow, like LOTS AND LOTS of snow, snow EVERYWHERE" and I laughed and laughed and said "fun!" and didn't go buy gloves. So I stuck socks on my hands once I realized just how cold he really meant. And he shook his head. And probably thought "it's a good thing she's so cute." Hee.

My grandmother in law was crazy and decided in the middle of the night that the house was STUFFY and came into the guest bedroom where we were and CRACKED OPEN THE FUCKING WINDOWS!!! There was SNOW on the inner windowsills in the morning. That's when I knew I was in a looney bin.

Well, that and the fact that his entire extended family spoke with such a heavy German accent I could hardly understand them.

Ah, it's BUTTER creme! Those sound good, but they just look too big, way too much sweetness.

It's a mixture of marscapone or ricotta cheese with sugar, fruit and nuts.

29. we have them here. Seriously. All those Joe's Pizza & Pasta places have them
quite often chocolate chip ones. That is a crispy outer shell, stuffed with sweetened ricotta cheese, not quite as decadent as they look.

Now if they are made with mascarpone, they might as well be butter, but that is what makes tiramisu so heavenly.

The ones in the picture appear to have a chocolate lining on the crispy shell, then the creamy stuff. Probably painted on thickly with a pastry brush.

They are quite good.

I had relatives who lived there (they're all dead now) and we'd drive down there for Lockhart sausage and eat it with saltine crackers and the orange grease from the sausages running down our arms. That was when I was a kid. I'd kill for it again.

And Dr. Peppers from Dublin, Texas made with real pure cane sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup. In cold glass bottles. Damn.

Now I'm hungry.

63. "It's about trying to conquer something that can't be conquered."

EXACTLY! YES! That's the part I don't get.

The walking and exercise part I get, but I mean, you like never see anybody walking off the golf course being completely satisfied with their game. Ever. Other sports aren't like that. In bowling there's the perfect score. In competitive sports there's winning a game. But in golf there's just... more golf. How does that not drive people absolutely freaking insane? It's like a socially acceptable form of sadism, with bad pants.

And even when you have a "good game," you never know if it was you being good, or if you just got lucky with the wind and the way the grass was cut that day, or what. Me, I couldn't take that kind of pressure. If people like me played golf, the "19th Hole" would be a big pile of dead bodies, where we all went to commit harakiri.

Have you seen Robin William's take on golf?:

74. That's the thing...
If you play regularly and have ANY ability, you will hit some of the most sublime, perfect shots ever. You will think about playing professionally (if only you could repeat that). Then your next shot goes into the trees. It's frustrating to the point of madness, but when it's right, it's wonderful.

So, yeah, I guess you're right, but it's one of the few sports you can play by yourself.

Nice to see you, too. :) :hi:

I happen to enjoy it; George had other opinions. What's your point? If you're calling me an arrogant elitist, just say so. Don't use a dead comedian to make your point.

Oh, and I liked Carlin. A lot. I even think that bit is funny. Enjoying golf and being socially responsible are not mutually exclusive.

I still think I would get too frustrated playing a game in which you will forever be denied a definitive "you have completely mastered this game" moment. Then again, playing the game and being forced to acknowledge my perpetual imperfection would probably be a good, zen-like exercise for my soul, lol.

Thanks.

It was an ok Visit, mostly cause we got a kick ass room for super cheap. Gambling... Meh. The most fun part was trying to earn the extra club rewards without spending any money. $45 later, I had credit for gambling $500, and I got $5 free. For a mere $45 investment.

And the food was the damn same every single place we went. If there was ever a place you would expect to be able to score some tasty grub at 2 am, Vegas would be it. But no such luck, anywhere I was able to be.

I can only pity anyone stuck living in such a place.

that passion alone is insufficient to make one good at something...I'm sure many of the contestants ARE passionate about singing, but many of them have NO FUCKIN' BUSINESS doing so outside of their cars or their shower stalls.
