Who wants cookies!
Snow day + bored kid + too much XBox + classic mom diversion = freakishly decorated (Mr. Bill-like) yet yummy homemade gingerbread men. Who wants some? (Note: That is NOT the floor under the plates of cookies; it's the kitchen island. I swear.)

1. My significant other wants gingerbread
Did you make any regular gingerbread, or just cookies? It would spare me having to do any baking.....

2. Just the cookies, I'm afraid
But they're pretty soft. We could mash 'em together and mold 'em...think he'd notice?

4. Nah, I'll put them in the microwave and tell him I baked him
He smokes, so he won't be able to tell that the "fresh gingerbread" smell is missing from the kitchen.

3. Nice! I looooove gingerbread!

I've always wanted to do a batch of "bad" gingerbread men. Give them fangs and weapons and gang signs and such like.

6. We can't decide if our guys look more like
Mr. Bill or aliens--the frosting trigger was a little sensitive, so...bloooop--giant purple eyes.

5. I just made a bunch of nut breads - and I was thinking about gingerbread

I usually make some for New Years! I miss making those "kid-type" cookies now that my son is older and less interested....

bet your house smells really good!

7. My mom made pumpkin nut bread (mini-loaves) around Halloween
It was yummy.

I think our house smells nice, but it's hard to tell--I'm still on antibiotics for a bad sinus infection and my sense of smell hasn't come back yet.

9. I made pumpkin ones with white choc chips, cranberry with almond slivers
on top, and lemon poppyseed ones.

I also made chocolate chip nut breads yesterday. I'm using some new small loaf pans that have four pans all attached - much easier than using separate foil pans like I usually do.

There are different good smells in the house, some cranberry, some pumpkin and some lemon. NIce.

12. You're in!
I'll take English Breakfast or Earl Grey, please!

Just one question: You DO bite the heads of the gingerbread men first, right?

14. No, I bit the hands or feet off first, then the head.
I liked that little story about the Gingerbread Boy when I was a kid. Maybe it was a warning book for kids not to run away because the wiley fox would get you. Same as Little Red Riding Hood...stay on the path or there's bound to be trouble ahead. By the way, I'll bring along some Black Tea too. Uh oh...5 pm gotta go home. Have a terrific weekend.

17. 26
inches on the ground in my yard, not including the stuff tossed by the snowblower and the plow.

snowbanks by the street are at least 5-6 feet.

snow by the edge of the driveway is close to 3-3.5 feet

more coming sunday :banghead:

20. Coo' --you win!
We only had about 2 inches on the ground from earlier in the week. The foot we got today was quite enough though--and gods bless my neighbor with his snowblower and lots of time on his hands--he did our driveway AND front walk! That gives us mountains at the edge of the driveway that our braindead neighbor kids (the idiots on the other side of us) will try to use as a sledding hill and slide into the street. Still expecting one of them to get squashed flat in the middle of the street like a squirrel-road-pizza one of these days.

I let my kids' eyes get red from video games and tv while I hid upstairs and watched tv.

19. ROFL!
Oh, he did that all morning, never fear! He's bored with Lego Star Wars and Lego Indiana Jones, though (too much thinking on that last one), so he played a bunch of demos dad downloaded--Harry Potter (meh), Lego Batman (much better), and SpongeBob (back to meh). I camped out on DU!
