Gawd I Hate When News People Give Wrong Info On Plane Crashes
Brian Williams NBC repeated that the A-320 carried 20,000 gallons of jet fuel
when it only carries 6000-7000
among other things
They always get things wrong

2. Perhaps he got confused between pounds of fuel and gallons of fuel?
It is frustrating - so many anchors seem to have gotten where they are because of an ability to say things convincingly, not because of a dedication to getting things right...

6. Maybe somebody gave him the fuel load in liters,
which is about 23,000.

But yeah, the media always get stuff wrong about aviation incidents.

10. I imagine so.
I know aviation so I can identify the errors. And I have to assume they make the same kind of mistakes when they report on subjects I don't know about, so I don't trust them to be accurate about anything. This is probably because of the 24-hour cable news cycle and the fact that media outlets are more interested in glitz and flash and instant reporting than in getting it right.
