My mother's on Facebook!!! AARRRGGGHHH!!!!!!!!!
I couldn't turn down the 'friend request' i got from her yesterday... but honestly, she and i couldn't have less in common if we went out of our way to do so.

I'm hoping that she'll get annoyed/offended enough with the things that my friends and i post that she'll just go away.

Or maybe she is and I might find her. I don't care too though.

6. lol me too
She has 3 friends

She's not that different from me, except her age and relative corniness :p She just wants to see what I'm up to maybe. It's weird though, I bet my friends are like "WHY is her mom on here?"

7. In the case of mine, she's a fundie, Freeper-type...
The head-butting between us has been legendary.

The only thing i will give her a little credit for is that she hasn't shunned me because i'm queer.
Heck, i think she likes Lyric better than she ever did my ex-husband. *L*

11. I've been quietly encouraging my friends to leave wild comments on my wall...
just hoping she'll get annoyed with it enough to just leave me alone.

I have a couple of good friends from here who have volunteered to be particularly objectionable, should the need arise. *L*

10. I accepted it because at some point, i have to make an appearance at the old home place...
I have little or nothing in common with most of my relatives, except my grandmother (mom's mom), but her health is failing.

I would never, ever delete my profile... i've reconnected with too many old friends that way in the last year, but there are more that i'm still trying to find.

12. I'm lucky my grandmother is still alive.
My mom avoids the internet like the plague to keep from getting the nutty emails my nana forwards (I, OTOH, am not so fortunate). Racist diatribes about my wonderful aunt from Mexico and how she's a terrible, lazy mother because she's Mexican (she's a great mom and a wonderful person, but God help Nana, she's BROWN....), that kind of stuff.

I have a Facebook account and hardly use it, but I'd feel really weird if my mom tried to friend me. She's not entirely freepy (that's my dad's job), but she's got some pretty odd ideas about how the world works....

14. This caught me out of the blue... i mean, my mom's not a Luddite, but
It took her a long, LONG time to get the hang of e-mail.

Weirdly, she 'friended' me first, before even thinking about adding my younger brother.

I should send her to MySpace, and give her links to a couple of my half-sibs (dad's kids from his 2nd-of-3 marriages), so she'll get distracted looking at pics of her long-lost grandkids or something. *L*

17. That's my other saving grace.
My brother has (a)procreated and (b) moved back to our hometown. She's way too distracted by the offspring to explore the intertubes.....

Sounds like your mom friending you would be like my Nana friending me. Ack.

13. Oh, God, I think I'd shit twice and die if my mom showed up on Facebook.
Not that she would, but if she ever did, I would NOT be happy. There are just some things a mother shouldn't know. Even at 40, the boy is scared of mommy. :P

28. My brother and sister are on Facebook
but we don't speak, so they're not "friends" of mine. But I don't have any privacy restrictions on my page, and I've already learned that my sister snoops my page periodically and snips and snipes to family about anything she doesn't like.

Family is a birth defect, but it's one you can mostly out-grow and leave behind. I try not to worry about it.

29. I would *really* freak out
Seeing as how my mother's been dead for ten years. Not that she'd do it anyway: she was a computer phobe.

If anyone's going to contact me from beyond the grave via Facebook, it would have to be my father. Not only did he love playing with computers (and this was thirty years ago), but the temptation for him to check out the dirty jokes would be irresistible.

So are my mom and dad. :wow:

I love it everytime my dad says 'Oh, I don't know how to do that, I just get on to look at the pictures you kids post' and I get to respond, "Well, Grandma just joined the Mafai, but whatever you're probably too old to understand that stuff". (Grandma is 91)!

34. Facebook should really let you categorize people better
and then filter what each group can see. I have family, co-workers, real friends and obligatory reciprocal "friends" who I don't really want to see that much. Also complete strangers who add me as friends as a joke (like everyone who has the same name as me has added me as a friend). I'm a completely different person with each of these groups. I added a lot of business associates because I'm too lazy to keep track of their contact information any other way but I really don't want them seeing how much I goof off with online games or what kinds of movies I like. So I stopped posting anything individualized and just use Facebook as a kind of online address book that other people update for me.

37. my sons...
when I joined facebook with some friends...
I asked my guys by email if we could be friends...
because I did not want to embarass them...
they both said don't be silly, you don't need to ask...
we get along really well though and are pretty close.
I suppose that makes a difference.

I do like to take a peek now and then on their wall
to see what they are up to...
not too many surprises!
