The dog stole my pillows again.
I know where they are, he is napping on them. And he is looking at me as if he's been naughty, and cowering.

You know what really hurts? I've had him for 15 years now, and I've never laid a finger on him. He's spoiled so rotten he stinks. But yet he still cowers like I might hit him. That makes me really sad.

:(

2. Did he have another owner before you?
That might be why he cowers...I think you ought to just give him those pillows, sounds like its a losing battle trying to keep them (hide yours where he can't find them)

4. I don't know if he had previous owners. But I suspect so, and they'd hit him.
He was about 4 or 5 months old when I adopted him. He was absolutely filthy and ratty, and had obviously not been taken care of. And possibly abused.

First thing I did was take him to a groomer to get a bath and that bristly shit shaved off him, then to a vet. He had some kind of itchy scourge that he'd rub raw. With treatment, ointment for his raw spots, and a decent diet, he recovered nicely.

Still, it hurts to think he'd still be afraid I'd hurt or abuse him in any way. I think he does know I'd never harm him.

6. You never know how he ws mistreated before you found him, but
he sounds like his life certainly improved when you found him.

Of course, he's probably just trying to psych you out using dog mind control.

(Our dog has his own pillow - he trained us well.)

7. He is indeed training ME! LOL!
Doesn't matter where I've been or where I go. He has to be there. I think he just loves me and finds it comforting to be where I've been. I have a special needs kitty that is like that too.
