I've become a geek. I have laptop envy.

A colleague was showing me his Toughbook today at a luncheon meeting. His is refurbished, he said it only cost $500. And it has all kinds of features I could use, mostly features that would guarantee it would be beagle- and kitteh- proof, like spill-proof keyboard, keys kind of better installed than mine, shock-proof...and I like the handle.

My Gateway is less than a year old, and has held up pretty nicely under some pretty tough treatment from the critters. It is missing three keys, and apparently has a loose usb port, though. So, that $500 Toughbook had me salivating.

I've become one of them.
