Everything suddenly went dark in here. The lighbulb burnt out.
My mother came in here with a step ladder to change the bulb.

Nuh-ah! I said, you are not getting up on a ladder! She's 76 years old fercrissakes! She'd fall off and break her hip! I changed the light bulb myself. Thankyouverymuch!

Sheesh!

4. I thought I did have a total brain fart when it suddenly went dark in here.
I thought, well there it went. I just lost my mind.

6. Aren't these old women the shits?
My mother would crawl on top the roof if I wasn't here to stop her.

Jeezus! Sometimes she scares me more than my kid did.

7. I'm just afraid she'll hurt herself
she's tripped over curbs before and last spring fell off a stool while washing her windows- I got mad at her why didn't you have me come and do it? ...but good news! I took her to the doctor for a followup yesterday and he said her heart is just fine...

10. I'm glad that worked out well and your mom is fine.
My mother is healthier than I am. So she probably feels a bit protective of me.

But I'll be god damned if I'd let a 76 year old woman/mother, crawl up a ladder in my house. Not going to happen!

If I fell, I'd get a major bruise. If she fell, she get a broken hip!

Na-ahh. Not in my house, and not while I'm here.

11. Honestly? I think the dog did it.
I saw him secretly consulting with the cats just before it happened.

Then the lights went out in here. Coincidence? I think not.

9. Good. You need to be at least as stuborn as she is about that.
:P

I still try to do things for myself that I probably can't or shouldn't. And I get hurt and regret it for days afterward.

No broken bones, thankfully.

My friends, the "house elves," tell me to sit down and shut up all the time, take whatever it is out of my hand, and take care of it for me. Despite my protests, I'm very grateful for all their help. :)

12. Whoa_Nelly has already politely suggested I might be stubborn.
Sorry, no disabled or elderly person is going to climb a ladder in my house.

It's not like I can't do it. I swear, she gives me more gray hair than my son did.

13. Your mother sounds like my grandmother. She lived alone in
a small house in Texas, and we once got a letter from her where she told us that she had killed a rattlesnake in her garden with a shovel. I think she was 80, at the time.

14. My mother would totally do something like that.
She'd crawl up on the roof to smack a racoon.
