So I finally told Verizon to "Go Fuck Yourself"
I am on the phone with Comcast and switching everything to their service. I was able to get a rate of $90/month for year for all the stuff I wanted (they have a phone connection that has just basic local). I figured in a year I'll talk my way into keeping the rate (or threaten to go back to Verizon)

1. This has potential.
You'll get the obligatory "it's not the workers fault" comment. And then someone should point out that Verizon is a union company. :nuke:

2. It's not the worker's fault. Oh, and Verizon is a union company.
Go back to Free Republic, Hitler.

3. What was it that you didn't like?
It's funny, because I was thinking of switching to Verizon. Comcast increased their rates again, plus the phone goes out when the internet/TV goes out.

5. Their customer service SUCKS
I mean sucks worst than a super-duper high speed hoover vacuum type sucking. Sucks worse than a cheap $2 whore with a bad overbite.

My phone wires are crossed with my one of my neighbors who must not have DSL. When they get a call my DSL gets bumped offline. They must come into my house to fix the issue and I've taken time off of work to wait for a repair person to show up (and never does). BUT the repair person will come the day before (when I'm not available to let them in) - fiddle with the outside box (which isn't the problem) and claim 'they fixed it' even though the tech on the phone says time and again - we need in your house.

The last time they swore up&down that the repair person would be there on Saturday but arrived on Friday and said it was 'fixed'. So unless the guy was able to break into my house OR my cats evolved to the point that they can open front doors - it's not fixed.

I was able to get a good rate for a year. And even when the price goes back to normal I'll figure out a way to fiddle around with my package to keep it around the same. (the price would go back up $25, which at that price is about $15 more a month then I'm paying for Comcast Cabe+Verizon Phone & DSL)

I need a connection that stays connected.

9. I think both Comcast and Verizon have their problems
I think each individual has to feel around and see what works best for him/her.

12. you've got great reasons to switch, sometimes they just won't fix stuff
and you need to bolt and tell them that's a big part of why you quit them.

i had AT&T for phone service until last year and phone service was so bad (static --during the rainy season) that I had the repairman's cell phone number!!! i sense that our underground lines were simply getting old and he would just fix segments here and there until it happened again --it would give me a few trouble free months until it rained a lot and then it was back again.

i went over to Comcast --didn't have much to lose. but my 1-year deal is almost up so i don't know what i'll do now.

4. The big mega-communications-corps are cutting costs everywhere
so service totally Sucks! They have gutted their customer service divisions, outsourced everything they can get away with, stripped down their repair departments, and they wonder why their customers are upset. x(

I hope you get good service with Comcast. If not, I hope something new comes along to challenge both of them in the next year.

I'm very sick of Time Warner. I've considered consolidating everything with Verizon. But I keep holding off because Verizon is no better.

A real capitalist system would enter a little more competition.

6. Comcast is horrible! We actually couldn't get broadband from them
even though we were supposed to. Morans wouldn't replace their 30 year old wiring outside to let us get internet and hi-def.

Screw 'em!

7. Wow... from horrible to unbearable
Seriously, Comcast is a festering carbuncle on the buttocks of Satan. I hope you have better luck with them than everyone I know has.

If you really feel lucky, try going to Qwest. They put the "less" in "clueless".

8. Pretty funny
I'm about ready to jump off the Comcast boat. Everything they've touched in my world has turned to shit.

13. The slowness doesn't bother me - not like I'm trying to split the atom over the internets
I liked the fact that I was paying $18/month for the service. I'll now be paying $25 for Comcast - I'll just 'suck-it-up'

15. our verizon got sold to fairpoint last year
Never had problems with verizon.

Now every week or so we get a new fairpoint teevee commercial with the ceo explaining how sorry they are that one thing or another is effed up and how much they value us as customers.

face it. they're all effed up because they want to take you money and give you as little as possible in return. in fact, nothing, if at all possible.
