Does Gmail read your emails?

My wife sent my daughter some info about Puerto 'rico. After a couple of back and forth emails, she noticed a banner on the top of her email with discount fares to Puerto Rico? How strange is that?

tropical fishes. I searched on Goodgle about a particular fish, a knife fish.

Then after a while (maybe an hour or two later) I came to DU but didnt log in. All the ads I saw were about knives and fish. Somehow the ad bots what I had been searching or typing, or something.

The technology is really neat, but I refuse to use them because the whole concept really, really sucks. At the very least, clear your cookies and cache every so often to mystify them.

(I use Yahoo mail, but they might be doing the same thing, for all I know)
