Well its official, more or less,
At my appointment yesterday, my Opthamologist said that I was legally blind in my left eye. He had sent me to a neuro-opthamologist who said that the loss of parts of my vision in that eye was due to permanent damage to the optic nerve. At yesterday's appointment, my regular opthamologist said that the remaining sight in that eye is worse than before and that my pupil is not responding well. When I went into another room for another test, he told my wife that I am legally blind in that eye.

This afternoon I am going to a hematologist at the cancer center here to check out elevated white cell counts which are unexplained. This was discovered when I was doing prep testing for surgery on my neck. They wouldn't do the surgery because of the blood count problem, but none of my medical people can figure it out, so now I go to the hematologist.

I guess they'll take more blood ... I already resemble a pin cushion!

This is all starting to get me down.

:(

1. I'm sorry you have to go through this.
Sending good vibes and wishes to you. I hope they can figure everything out quickly. Not knowing is worse, imo. I can deal with something better if I know what it is.

I can definitely empathize with your situation. I wish I could do more though.

I hope your wife is very supportive, and I hope you have other supportive friends and family too. I really hope you're not going through this alone.

8. I'm blind in my left eye, a. It's not as bad as it might seem at first.
I still drive among other things. I know it's little comfort, but you aren't alone in that and you will adjust very, very quickly. Loss of one eye actually only decreses your vision by 20%.

Sending lots of hopes and prayers your way, friend.
