My father just HAD to upgrade his Mac based on the premise that he wants to edit video, so we picked up a new (last generation) iMac last night. So, did the "brain transfer" thing they recommend, and all seemed well, until you actually tried to launch Mail. Not only wouldn't it retrieve mail (settings appear to be fine) it wouldn't find the old mail, AND the program will not "quit" normally, but must be forced to quit.
It won't boot from a utility program to try to fix the problem, so I'm re-installing the system, hoping this time it won't "hiccup".
Also, this glossy screen is like working in a mirror... ugh! I wanna take sandpaper to it or that matte fixative spray or something.
So, if the re-install doesn't work, we'll get to take it back to the shop for them to ponder. Of course, I'm sure transporting it will damage the gossamer finish and void the warranty.
Maybe this belongs in the Mac forum, but just HAD to vent.
