7. Yeah considering the water table is often only four feet down
in Houston. A basement would remain perpetually flooded here :P

Unfortunately, the whole apartment is storage for all the junk and mail I haven't gotten around to stripping out all of my name and adress info...

6. I usually do it every 6 months and it's due big time.
We pick up and dust some in between but every 6 months in when we organize what hasn't been put away and clean the nooks and crannies of their spidey webs.

24. Mine get worse in warmer weather.
We get ants coming in around the basement windows and the granddaddy longlegs will start. I usually take care of those a couple times a summer.

I'll take granddaddy longlegs over wolf spiders. My son gets those in his basement. They hide in his waterproofing system.

ie, where do you put all the junk that would ordinarily go in the basement...

14. What goes in a basement?
Every time I visit friends up north, I marvel at the massive space that is a basement.... What I couldn't do with a big-ass room under the ground!

15. It's why people out west have 8-car garages
For your junk. :P

FWIW, we have two garages and a carport.

The cars are in the driveway. :)

It's so funny how folks keep stuff in their garages, but not their cars!

23. you should have seen the trash pile before we bought this house!
Edited on Fri Apr-03-09 04:24 PM by tigereye
Trash pile from the duplex we lived in then, and trash pile that had to be hauled away before we moved in here. I can still see the realtor's brain exploding when he saw how much crap was in the basement before we were going to close on this new house. He was really mad.

It was shocking! And there were only 2 of us at the time. I am betting that the trash guys hated me!

18. That depends on what the basement is used for.
In my old house, we had a fully finished basement with laundry room, office, bathroom, family room, and bar. We used it all the time as living space, so it got cleaned as regularly as the rest of the house.

We don't have a basement where we live now. Water table is too high.
