For those of you who don't know what the Dresden Files are: urban fantasy crossed with detective noir. Lotta funny wisecracks and pop-culture references, but Butcher's got a deep streak of true creativity and a tendency to play with genre conventions, and he's written more than a few utterly chilling scenes over the course of the previous 10 books.
