5. As amazing as that is (and it IS amazing), I have seen better by Buddy Rich and Gene Krupa.
That clip of yours is from the Buddy Rich memorial show they did as a matter of fact. There's also a clip of Neil Peart playing at the show kicking around.

Ed Shaughnessy was no slouch either!

That was still an amazing display that you posted though. Thanks. Starts my day of with some kick ass drumming! :)

7. Speaking of Gene Krupa: Sal Mineo is absolutely brilliant in the movie bio. BRIL-LIANT.
"When Krupa saw the finished film he endorsed Mineo's performance and even awarded the actor with a set of his own drums in appreciation."

8. Oh yes yes yes!!
Anyone arguing that is a moran. :)

Cool info on the link. I like how Mineo gave the drums to David friggin' Cassidy, of all people.

10. There's a 'Five favorite drummers' thing on Facebook
I picked Joe Morello, then four rock drummers, somehow forgetting about Shaughnessy, who's one of my all-timers. He could be anywhere on my list after Morello, whom I think is untouchable.

I posted this vid of Shaughnessy at FB last night: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AiPrQWQtVLk

6. You must watch this:
Antonio Sanchez drum solo. Especially note, about 2+ minutes in, he starts on the block with his left foot, and keeps everything else going. Amazing.

9. Pretty great. We saw Colin Currie --from the third row--perform
Jennifer Higdon's Percussion Concerto last week with the NC Symphony. No youtube video of it, but
if they ever put one up you will be amazed. It is scored for solo drum set, vibraphone, marimba, bongos and other instruments. The soloist--at front of stage--interacts musically with orchestral percussionists. It was astonishing.

Thanks for the post. Have sent it to my percussionist son.

Robert Fripp, Steven Wilson and Bill Bruford all endorse this guy, so you know he's awesome.

On edit: Neal Peart likes him too.
