On Hold with Verizon Wireless......
:banghead:

Sheesh... It would have been easier to sell the crappy-ass phone on eBay, and just buy me another one at full retail!

1. Did you get "Debbie" in Pune India telling you...
"It is your problem, it is not our problem" yet?

2. No indications that they're in India....
The rep I'm speaking to (Crystal) sounds domestic to me... But I've been on hold more than not.

9. Verizon doesn't use Indian outsourcing.
They use minimum wage outsourcing in this country via an extremely vile corporation called ACS.

5. I've been very patient throughout this....
I've had the phone damn near a year now, and been having problems since the beginning. And they're acting like they've never heard of it...

BTW- My cousin lived in Honolulu for many years; I heard him use the term "haole" but had NO idea it was spelled that way!

7. Thing is....

with a phone that actually works, they have the best service in this area- hands down. I have an AT&T phone through work, and it is just AWFUL. Drops calls constantly, and from 7am to 9am, and from 5pm to 7pm- 75% of the time, you get the "Network is busy. Try your call again later" message.

Prior to spending a small fortune on a fancy-schmancy phone, I really had no gripes with Verizon. Lesson learned- take the damn freebie phones!

Edited for pronoun trouble....

16. I have ATT and was thinking I might switch to Verizon.
Jeesh. Hubby has Verizon and he has almost talked me into switching to a Verizon Family Plan. He loves his Verizon coverage and never seems to have a dropped call.

I, on the other hand, f***ing HATE my ATT phone, have dropped calls ALL the time, and have no coverage at all in my family room--where I spend most of my "at home" time.

We live in the middle of boo-foo no-place, so cell companies that have decent coverage out here are at a premium.

24. Their coverage and lack of dropped calls IS better than AT&T....
But when the crappy phone they sold you only works 80% of the time, and they refuse to give you any options to address the problem... Well, I guess I'll have to live with the dropped calls. A dropped call is probably better than NO call....

and said she would do so by 3:30.... Well, it's almost 4 here (CST) and I haven't heard back.

This will be the 3rd time I was promised a follow-up for the same issue.

and was able to switch everything over just using the web -- you could try that if you get too annoyed!

11. Yeah...
I'm just steamed by the situation.... Up until this last phone, I always got the freebie-phones when the free upgrade was available. This past time, I thought, "hey- I'm doing pretty well; why don't I go ahead and get the latest and the greatest?" So I did, and shelled out a not-insignificant chunk of change for the thing (and it is a complete and utter POS). I've had trouble with it from day one, and they know this. If I have no recourse, then I just wish they'd tell me so, and I'd make a decision accordingly- I just HATE being strung along like they're doing....

And, predictably, they didn't call me back. So I sent the following to them:
____
I have lost count of the number of emails and phone calls I have made regarding the LG Dare that I originally purchased back in July of 2008. On multiple occaisons, I have been promised follow-up phone calls to figure out some way to have the clearly inferior phone replaced, but to no avail.

I'm not going to elaborate on the problems I've had with the phone anymore- It should be on your record, as I've explained the problem repeatedly. I'm tired of wasting my time because there is obviously not going to be any effort on the part of Verizon to address the less-than-acceptable performance of this phone. I do wish that I would have been told of this in an honest manner, rather than lead to believe that I had some options.

I've had enough. If this is the way you intend to handle things, I will simply allow my contract to expire and switch providers. I do not appreciate having my time wasted in this fashion.
____

Not that it'll do any good.... AT&T, here I come, I guess.....

12. DFA has a deal going with Credo
http://www.credomobile.com/dfawireless/?event=showPage&pageID=513

They will give you a phone and pay off the balance of your existing contract. Their service is through Sprint and I don't know how they are.

and have cheaper, simpler service (no web surfing). You can use phones from almost any manufacturer.

19. It periodically (at least once per day)...
just stops working. Strong signal, but you can call it and it just sits there. If a voicemail is left at that time, I might get it 10 minutes later, or 24 hours later- just depending on the day.

18. Hahaha, i like your email

Hope it'll get you a response! In the meantime, you could always get a cheap used phone and switch your service over. Very easy to do either on the web or using the new phone (i think you just dial *228 from the new one).

I actually made money when i traded my last phone -- I had a new LG Voyager and hated it. Got a used Blackberry on craigslist for $125, then sold my Voyager for $200!

Online and on phone, just to order 4 new phones when our contract expired.

They have an unnavigatible website.

And their phone support was spotty.

I finally gave them the heave-ho after several attempts to get rid of my piece of shit phone and went to AT&T (bought an iPhone), and never looked back.

23. That's exactly what they're doing to me....
I've been with them for about 7 years, and never really had a complaint- up until purchasing that shitty-ass LG Dare! I'm not asking that they flat-out give me a different phone. All I want is to be able to trade in a virtually brand new LG Dare, and be able to pay the difference for a different phone. What is so goddamned difficult about that?

Fuck them, indeed. I've already put the Dare up on Craigslist, and am going to the store tonight to close the account.

25. I didn't even have a Dare - mine was a shitty flip phone.
Never worked right. It would constantly turn itself off, it wouldn't work with my Bluetooth system, it would drop calls left and right. Never looked back after I switched.

29. The cancellation is in progress....
I've already called to get my payoff (not as bad as I thought), and to disconnect the line from my OnStar system. They seemed entirely unconcerned that I was planning to cancel.

If my $110 per month isn't good enough for them, then so be it....

The title On Hold with Verizon Wireless has a 10.2% chance of being a bestselling title!

I would have predicted at least 50%.
