Allow me to share this with all you cube rats
:nuke::nuke::nuke::nuke::nuke::nuke::nuke::nuke::nuke::nuke::nuke::nuke::nuke::nuke::nuke::nuke::nuke::nuke::nuke::nuke::nuke::nuke::nuke::nuke::nuke::nuke::nuke::nuke::nuke::nuke::nuke::nuke::nuke::nuke::nuke::nuke::nuke::nuke::nuke::nuke:

I get in trouble ALL THE TIME at work.

I get in trouble if my desk phone rings - "please limit your personal calls"

I get in trouble if I leave the ringer on my cell on - "please be sure to silence your phone"

I get in trouble if I answer my cell phone - "we have discussed your cell phone calls - be sure people call your office line" :banghead: Oh gee, sorry.... my dad was calling to tell me that my brother was in the ICU (back in Jaunary) and did not have my office phone handy

Today - "I noticed you check a text message"

:wtf:

I cannot tell you how many other people in this building spend hours on their phones, cell and desk lines, HOURS. Me, I get a fucking text message, with the phone on vibrate and I get the nastygram.

I. HATE. WORKING. FOR. THE. MAN.

6. I would give anything to work from home

Hey - guess what? My hombre drove up to see me this past weekend :wow: 22 hours in the car for a 15 hour visit.

9. It truly is a blessing. I am lucky - for now, anyway.
The firm has been having "closed door conferences" about downsizing. :scared:

As for your obviously wonderful new man, you and I really need to chat. Somehow, I missed calling you two weekends ago - let's plan for it soon, k? :hi:

10. sending you good vibes for the meeting
(((((vibes)))))

Yes, we need to chat! He is returning this weekend. This time it is a 4 day stay, rather than 15 hours. That was the most impulsive and just plain loco thing anyone has ever done for me. :loveya:

I am home most evenings after 830 - and I can put him on hold to chat with you :P

2. Yuck.
I work in a HUGH cube farm but we don't get monitored like that (which should be obvious from the amount of time I spend here..:P)
I hate those types of dictatorial firms..here, as long as you get your work done, they are pretty cool with whatever else you are doing.

3. People who pull that kind of shit
should have to live according to their own rules. x(

I'll bet that your boss spends a hell of a lot of time on personal calls and text messages.

5. omg Thom -
You have hit it on the mark. Spends all day cackling with that broomrider laugh, on the phone making personal appointments, giggling with friends...

I really don't know how much more I can take.

4. Sounds like a jealousy problem
Maybe if your boss had some FRIENDS he/she would find less time to pester you and enjoy time talking to and texting friends.

8. I would wager you are correct....
this person has a miserable existence in a loveless marriage. When my marriage fell apart, the boss took great pleasure in watching me crumble, and was surprised to see that I have recovered in a magnificent way - that I have a new SO, that I have a freaking LIFE.

11. That's ridiculous
:wtf: You should be able to take a certain number of personal calls. Work shouldn't be a prison.

12. seriously
he/she gives over 8 hours of his/her life and can't have a text or a call once in a while?

I'm lucky. I sit right next to my boss and have never had a problem with an occasional call or text. I keep it to a minimum but damn - to not allow any is totally out of line.

13. Add to that the fact that I am a parent and feel the need
to have my cell phone on me at all times.

If anyone needs to contact me in an emergency, they all have my cell phone because I have an hour long commute each way to and from work.

I. CANNOT. TAKE. IT. ANYMORE.

I am going to lose my mind!!!
