I put to rest my beloved 15 1/2 year old "Puppy" yesterday.
Our whole family was with "Miss Taro" when she passed from this world. She's now with her big brother "Ben-Ben." They are waiting for us at the Rainbow Bridge. My heart aches but I'm keeping strong for the rest of the family.

-----------------------------

TARO was found abandoned with her dead newly birthed brother on the side of a road in Okinawa, Japan on 23 Aug 93. Vet guessed, due to spots, that she might have "some Pointer" mixed with "something really small" mixed - 29 to 32 lbs.

Taro was a treasured member of the family. Additionally, in her youth, Taro was Therapy Dog Certified and visited Mary Washington Hospital and our local Elder-Care C enter where she provided comfort to many strangers.

Rest In Peace my beautiful GIRL.

4. Tears for you and Miss Taro--we had to do the same for Tanya last summer.
The fur babies are part of our families and losing them creates such heartache.

RIP, Miss Taro.

I looked into her eyes and started crying myself. What a beautiful girl ...after all those years you forget that it isn't forever. This life and death thing is NOT a good model, not for me. And the old age thing sucks too, I can tell you.

I'm keeping strong for my teenage daughter who grew up with Taro. She's understandably taking this very hard. I'm doing my best to highlight the point that she was in great distress over the last 48 hours and now she's "at peace" with her doggie brother.

But it's NOT EVER easy. Time is the only element that helps make the pain bearable. Although he passed in 2001, sometimes I think I can hear our Sheepdog Ben-Ben barking in the back yard. Silly, I know but you do get attached and they are a part of your everyday life - a very good part. :-)

anytime anyone entered the room. She died about 6 years ago and I still her her barking everytime i open up my Grandparents' front door.

31. what beautiful family pictures
Your lovely daughter in her beautiful fancy dress and Miss Taro..just so sweet. And Ben-Ben and Miss Taro...gulp..that wrenches the heart. I still remember how I hated to come through my own front door when I thought about how quiet and empty it had become without a pet. Now I have plenty ... I never want to be left behind alone again.

I'm going out to do some yard work and other chores. Distraction is part of the healing process.

If anyone is caring for a ailing or elderly pet, I'm with you in spirit and know how difficult it is to know when to "let go."

God Bless. :grouphug:

29. The great news is that Doggie Heaven is pretty cool. They have GIANT steak bones...
...loose trash cans, cats made of bacon, long walks- and much, much more.

Don't worry: She will meet you again someday with tail wagging...

Except Princess is mostly black with white spots on her body. She is 16 yrs old this year and still hanging in there. Her "sister" Jiffy is 17 and still hanging in there also, but a bit worse for wear. Both were pound puppies we got when they were almost a year old.
