Is this weird? My husband and I are going out tonight to celebrate our divorce,
which is final on Monday. I've been thinking I'm totally okay with it but today I've felt totally sick just thinking about trying to have a conversation with him... which I do, all the time, so it makes no sense.

Will anybody be around when I get back, probably emotionally fucked up and quite possibly buzzed?

1. *hugs* Maybe it's the finality of it that's getting to you this particular time?

3. That's probably it.
It's been so long coming. Instead of celebrating I'm trying not to cry. I think I'll have a shot before he gets here so I can be all perky and fun.

10. Even if you have made the right choice to divorce, you will still be mourning the
good times you had.

Don't worry. Maybe the anticipation is worse than the reality and the dinner will actually be fine, sweetie. *extra big hugs* And DU will be here for ya when you get back. :)

2. You Can Remain Friends
I think that's cool, unless I'm misinterpreting your post.

5. No, you have it right.
It's a totally uncontested divorce, we still hug, I call him if I need help, that sort of thing. It's worked out great for the kids.

4. Not weird.
Natural human emotion.

Not a pleasant thing to have to go through, but you will be ok.

Why are you going to dinner? Do you have to sign papers?

I should be around later. I'm at work. It's very busy but I'll be here off and on.

7. Thanks, dear man.
We agreed to "celebrate" tonight because he doesn't teach on Thursdays and is busy all weekend with the kids. I don't know why we decided to do this: I do know it was my stupid idea. Luv you, bigwillq.

9. Expect the worst.
And when it's not, you won't think it was a stupid idea. Oh, yeah, and drink heavy! ha ha!

:) :hi:

11. As long as he's picking up the tab, I will.
:hi:  And that's a good idea, expect the worst and it can only be better. Bwahahahahahahah! I know from personal experience that that's BULLSHIT! :D

6. My dad walked my mom down the aisle when she married my
step-dad and she was a reader at his second wedding, sometimes it is possible to remain friends, good luck to you though

8. We are friends and will remain so. We've been separated for almost 3 years!
That's cute about your parents. C and I will be there, eventually although I can't see myself getting married again. Thanks!

14. Reminds me of my divorce
We were in court to rubber-stamp the papers and left the courtroom laughing and chatting. When we got to the stairs we discovered another couple having a screaming argument and police standing around wondering what to do about it.

16. Yes. I'm in awe of how badly it goes for some people.
C and I are fundamentally reasonable and though we've had our arguments, they have never lasted more than a day or two. Except when we were actually living together.

17. What's to celebrate?
It might have sounded like a good idea at the time, but I - having been on both sides of the desk, as a party to a divorce and as a divorce attorney - wouldn't go if I were you.

Your feelings are telling you that it's not good for you.

There's nothing to celebrate.

Call it off. And I'll be pulling for you ........

19. You'd have to understand what prevented us from divorcing three years ago.
So many obstacles beyond our control, both of us trying to do the best for one another and the kids. I do believe you have a point but I'm doing the stupid thing and having a drink before getting ready so I will be calm. Thank you, Tangerine LaBamba!!!

20. Good ..........
I strongly believe in "numb" before anything anxiety-producing.

Good luck, kid, and be strong.

See you later. I expect a full, drunken report .....................
